The app
Highlighten reads, searches and highlights your documents entirely on your computer, on Mac and on Windows. Your files, the words you search for and the results are never uploaded, and the app has no account, no analytics and no advertising.
- Documents are opened only when you add them. Highlighten remembers which files you added so the list is there next time; it stores their locations on your computer, not their contents.
- Scanned pages are read with the on-device text recognition built into macOS or Windows.
- Highlight on Screen reads the front window on your computer while it's switched on (on a Mac, with the Screen Recording permission). Nothing is recorded, saved or sent.
- Word lists and settings are stored in the app's preferences on your computer.
Purchases on Mac
The free trial and Pro are handled by Apple through the Mac App Store. We don't receive your payment details. Apple's privacy policy applies to purchases.
Purchases on Windows
Pro for Windows is paid through Stripe's secure checkout. Stripe processes your card; we never see your card details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to the payment, and we receive the details needed to issue your licence key, such as your email address. We use it only to send you the key from license@amiplay.net and to help if you contact us at license@amiplay.net or info@amiplay.com.
When you activate or remove a licence key, the app sends the key and a random installation ID to our licence server (api.amiplay.net), so the key works on the PCs you choose. The installation ID is created by the app and doesn't contain your name, your PC's name or anything from your documents. The 7-day trial is kept on your PC and isn't sent anywhere.
This website
highlighten.com is a static site with no cookies, no analytics and no third-party fonts or scripts. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security.
