How can we help?

Most answers are below. If yours isn't, email info@amiplay.com and include your macOS or Windows version.

A friendly, smiling office administrator with a headset at her desk

Which files can it read?

Free: Word (.docx), text and HTML, up to 3 documents at a time. Pro: also PDF and scanned PDF, DOC, ODT, RTF, Excel (XLSX, XLSM), Markdown and CSV, with no document limit.

Highlight on Screen doesn't turn on

On a Mac, it needs the Screen Recording permission. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen & System Audio Recording, switch on Highlighten, then quit and reopen the app. On Windows no permission is needed: press Ctrl+Alt+H, and if nothing happens, another app may already use that shortcut.

Restore a purchase on Mac

In the app, choose Highlighten → Restore Purchases, signed in with the Apple Account you bought Pro with.

Pro on Windows: your licence key

Pro for Windows is a licence key you buy on this site ($19.99, once). After checkout, the key is emailed to you from license@amiplay.net, our licence server; if it hasn't arrived within a few minutes, check your spam folder. You can reply to that address or write to info@amiplay.com; both reach us. In the app, click Try Pro free at the bottom left, paste the key and choose Activate. The PC needs to be online while it activates.

To move Pro to another PC, choose Remove Licence on the same screen of the old PC, then activate the key on the new one. If the old PC is gone or the key won't activate, email info@amiplay.com with your key.

The free trial

Start the 7-day trial from the upgrade screen in the app. It's free, and it doesn't renew or charge you. When it ends, the app keeps working as the free version.

A word isn't found

Check the Matching switches: “Whole words only” won't find a word inside a longer one, and “Match case” needs the same capitals. For a scanned PDF, the scan must be clear enough for text recognition.
