Highlighten / Resume keyword scanner
Guide · Recruiting
A resume keyword scanner that stays on your Mac.
Paste the must-have skills from the job ad, drop in the folder of CVs, and Highlighten shows which candidates mention which skills — PDF, Word or scanned CVs alike — without uploading candidate data anywhere.
Step by step
Three steps.
- 1
Drop the CV folder
PDF, Word (.docx and .doc), ODT, RTF and scanned CVs are all read on your Mac.
- 2
Paste the skills
One per line: languages, tools, certifications, phrases like “team lead”. Save the list per role.
- 3
Shortlist and share
Sort candidates by how many skills they mention, check the matches in context, and print highlighted CVs for the hiring manager.
Private by design
Candidate CVs contain personal data. Highlighten reads them on your own computer — no cloud service, no account, nothing to add to your privacy notice.
Questions
Does it replace an applicant tracking system?
No — it's a fast, private way to read a stack of CVs against a skill list. Export the results as CSV to keep notes in your ATS.
Does it find skills written differently?
It finds exactly the words and phrases you type, with options for whole words, case and accents. Add variants (for example “Postgres” and “PostgreSQL”) as separate lines.
Can it read CVs in other languages?
Yes, including languages written without spaces, such as Chinese, Japanese and Thai.
